TradeKind referral terms & privacy
This page applies only if you choose the optional TradeKind referral when making a Cedar & Stone property enquiry.
Last updated: 18 September 2026
Please read this page before choosing the TradeKind referral option. It explains what the referral means, what Cedar & Stone does and does not do, how your information is shared, and the relationship between you, Cedar & Stone, TradeKind and any independent tradesperson who later contacts you.
1. Who is involved
Cedar & Stone Property Services is a Sussex property-services business. Cedar & Stone receives and handles property-work enquiries and is responsible for jobs that it accepts under its own agreement with a customer.
TradeKind is a separate Sussex trades platform. It is not Cedar & Stone and it does not become Cedar & Stone merely because a Cedar enquiry is referred to it.
A tradesperson or trade business who responds to a TradeKind opportunity is an independent business. Unless Cedar & Stone expressly tells you otherwise in writing in relation to a particular Cedar job, an independent TradeKind tradesperson does not act as Cedar & Stone's employee, agent or representative.
2. When the referral option is offered
Cedar & Stone may be unable to accept a particular enquiry, including because of capacity, timing, location, scope or other business reasons. Where the TradeKind referral option is offered, you may choose whether you want the relevant details of that enquiry passed to TradeKind.
The referral option is voluntary. It is separate from the normal privacy acknowledgement for submitting a Cedar & Stone enquiry and is not required in order to contact Cedar & Stone.
If you do not actively choose the referral option, Cedar & Stone will not transfer that enquiry to TradeKind under this referral process.
3. What you are agreeing to if you opt in
By actively selecting the TradeKind referral option and submitting the enquiry, you ask Cedar & Stone to pass the relevant information about that specific job to TradeKind if the Cedar & Stone referral conditions are met.
You also understand that, after the referral is successfully received by TradeKind, potentially relevant independent tradespeople may be able to contact you directly about that specific job and may offer to provide quotations or discuss the work with you.
Your referral choice applies to the job you are submitting. It is not blanket consent for unrelated future jobs and it is not consent to unrelated marketing.
4. Cedar & Stone has not accepted a referred job
A TradeKind referral means Cedar & Stone is not taking on that job under the Cedar & Stone service arrangement. The referral itself does not create a building, maintenance or home-improvement contract between you and Cedar & Stone.
Cedar & Stone does not become responsible for a later independent trade contract merely because the original enquiry was made through Cedar & Stone or because Cedar & Stone passed the enquiry to TradeKind with your permission.
5. TradeKind does not become the contractor merely by receiving the referral
TradeKind facilitates the opportunity for independent tradespeople to hear about relevant work. Unless TradeKind separately enters into a written contract saying otherwise, TradeKind is not the person carrying out the referred building, repair, maintenance or improvement work.
6. Independent quotations and contracts
Any independent tradesperson who contacts you through TradeKind is responsible for their own statements, availability and quotation.
You decide whether to communicate with, obtain a quotation from or appoint any tradesperson. If you appoint one, the scope of work, specification, price, payment arrangements, materials, start date, duration, access arrangements, warranties or guarantees, cancellation arrangements and any other contractual terms are matters for the agreement between you and that tradesperson unless another written agreement expressly states otherwise.
Cedar & Stone is not a party to that independent contract and does not set or approve an independent tradesperson's quote merely because the enquiry originated with Cedar & Stone.
7. Your own checks before appointing a tradesperson
You remain free to make whatever checks you consider appropriate before appointing a tradesperson. Depending on the work, this may include checking identity, experience, references, insurance, qualifications, registrations, licences, memberships, previous work and the terms of the quotation or contract.
Nothing on this page should be read as a statement that Cedar & Stone has independently verified a particular tradesperson's qualifications, insurance, regulatory status, financial standing or suitability for your specific job unless Cedar & Stone expressly confirms that check to you in writing.
8. No guarantee of a response, quotation or appointment
A referral does not guarantee that a tradesperson will respond, that a quotation will be provided, that a quotation will be acceptable, or that a tradesperson will be available when you require the work.
9. Information Cedar & Stone may transfer
Where you opt in and a referral is made, Cedar & Stone will limit the transfer to information reasonably needed for TradeKind to create and handle the opportunity. This may include your name, contact details, the property location or postcode, job title and description, selected trade or service type, timing or urgency information, and other job information you supplied that is relevant to the referral.
Cedar & Stone does not intend to transfer unrelated internal administration information simply because it exists in Cedar & Stone's systems.
10. How your information may be used after transfer
Cedar & Stone uses the transferred information to carry out the referral you requested and to keep an appropriate record of that referral. TradeKind receives the information for its own platform purposes connected with handling that job opportunity and enabling suitable independent tradespeople to respond.
TradeKind is a separate organisation and is responsible for its own processing of personal information once it receives the referral. TradeKind's own Privacy Policy applies to its subsequent processing.
Private customer information such as your email address, telephone number and full residential address should not be made publicly visible merely because a job opportunity exists.
11. Consent record and audit evidence
Cedar & Stone may keep evidence showing whether you selected the referral option, when you selected it, the wording or version presented to you, the applicable version of these referral terms, the status of the transfer and the destination reference returned after a successful referral. This is used to demonstrate and administer the choice you made and to resolve queries or disputes.
12. Withdrawing before transfer
If the referral has not yet been transferred, you may withdraw your referral consent by emailing cedarstoneps@gmail.com and asking us not to send it. We will act on a withdrawal where it reaches us before the transfer has taken place.
Once information has already been successfully transferred to TradeKind, Cedar & Stone cannot undo the fact that the transfer occurred. You can still contact Cedar & Stone and TradeKind about your data-protection rights and about stopping further contact where applicable.
13. Data protection and lawful handling
Cedar & Stone will process personal information in accordance with applicable UK data-protection law. The normal Cedar & Stone Privacy Notice continues to apply to the original Cedar & Stone enquiry. This page gives additional just-in-time information for the optional TradeKind referral.
The referral choice will not be pre-selected. Where Cedar & Stone relies on your consent for the referral, that consent must be given by an affirmative choice and we will keep evidence of it. You can contact us about withdrawing consent or exercising applicable data-protection rights.
14. Retention
Cedar & Stone will keep personal information and referral records only for as long as reasonably required for the purposes for which they are held, including handling the enquiry and referral, maintaining appropriate business and consent records, resolving disputes, preventing duplicate transfers and meeting legal obligations.
15. Security and data minimisation
Cedar & Stone will use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect referral information and will seek to transfer only the information reasonably necessary for the referral. The referral process must not be used to make private homeowner information publicly accessible.
16. Problems with the referral process
If Cedar & Stone experiences a technical problem while attempting the referral, Cedar & Stone should not tell you that the referral succeeded until a successful transfer has actually been recorded. A failed or uncertain transfer may be retained for controlled retry or administrative review rather than creating repeated duplicate opportunities.
17. Complaints and responsibility
If your complaint concerns the way Cedar & Stone handled your original enquiry, referral choice or transfer of information, please contact Cedar & Stone.
If your complaint concerns TradeKind's subsequent platform processing, you may need to contact TradeKind directly.
If your complaint concerns the quotation, conduct or work of an independent tradesperson whom you chose to appoint, the issue will ordinarily be between you and that tradesperson under the agreement you made with them. This does not remove any responsibility that Cedar & Stone or TradeKind has for its own acts or omissions under applicable law.
18. Liability and statutory rights
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so, and nothing in these terms removes rights that cannot lawfully be excluded under UK consumer or data-protection law.
Subject to those rights, Cedar & Stone is not responsible for performing, supervising or guaranteeing independent work that it did not accept as a Cedar & Stone job and that you later contracted directly with an independent tradesperson to perform.
Cedar & Stone does not accept responsibility for an independent tradesperson's separate quotation, contractual promises or workmanship merely because Cedar & Stone referred the original enquiry with your permission. This provision does not exclude responsibility for Cedar & Stone's own negligence, misleading statements, unlawful data processing or other responsibility that cannot lawfully be excluded.
19. Changes to these terms
Cedar & Stone may update these referral terms from time to time. The version applying to a referral is the version presented or recorded when you made that referral choice, unless a later change must apply by law.
20. Governing law
These referral terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Any mandatory consumer right to bring proceedings elsewhere is not affected.
21. Contact
For questions about a Cedar & Stone enquiry, referral or personal information, email cedarstoneps@gmail.com.
If you are unhappy with the way personal information has been handled, you may also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office.
Important summary: choosing the referral option allows Cedar & Stone to pass the relevant details of this specific enquiry to the separate TradeKind platform. Cedar & Stone has not accepted the referred job. Any independent tradesperson who later contacts you provides their own quotation and, if you appoint them, agrees the work directly with you.
